Dear Laity of the Florida Conference,
In the last few weeks, we have experienced two major hurricanes - Helene and Milton - that have impacted many in our Conference. While every district in the FLUMC experienced some impact from these storms, we have been in prayer specifically for those in the central region of our state. We are grateful for the leadership of Bishop Berlin, Rev. Alex Shanks and the Cabinet as well as the incredible work of Molly McEntire and Trish Warren among many others. In the midst of it all, we remain a strong and vibrant connection. To stay up to date on all the FLUMC’s Hurricane relief efforts and to find information on how to make a claim, check out the flumc.org site. We are now in the recovery phase and it is an ALL HANDS ON DECK kind of moment. This is especially true for those of us who experienced minimal to no damage over the last few weeks. There is a way for every lay leader in the FLUMC to contribute meaningfully to the efforts of recovery and rebuilding. To better support our communities, the Disaster Recovery Team is seeking information about what resources congregations in the FLUMC currently have, have access to, or could potentially gather. The most immediate needs are for flood buckets, tarps, hygiene kits, and menstrual kits. Completing this form will alert the team on the ways your congregation can be a part of the recovery efforts. You, your small group and/or congregation can make a donation to the Conference’s Disaster Support Fund. All monies raised will provide relief to the churches and communities who have been most impacted by these storms. Click here to make a donation. Volunteer

Continue to lift up individuals, families and congregations who have lost so much, those still without power, and those who are having to figure out what’s next. Pray for first responders and those engaged in all aspects of our recovery and rebuilding. Pray for the FLUMC and state of Florida that God’s grace would be felt during these challenging times.
