Hey friends,
What a weird couple weeks it’s been! We’ve seen all kinds of unusual events, including SNOW here in the Sunshine State. It’s not what we expect in Florida and we aren’t necessarily prepared for it.
As I reflect this week, I find myself turning to Luke 4:21-30. In this gospel story, Jesus announces the fulfillment of God’s promise to bring good news to the poor. He shares that the Lord will grant freedom to the oppressed. He tells of the Creator healing the broken. Yet Jesus is met with rejection from his own community, because he challenged expectations.
As we grow in our faith, we understand more and more the radical love of God is one that breaks barriers and reaches people. It defies all expectations and calls us to prepare our hearts and minds for change – and then make them. This week, I challenge you to reflect on how you’re living out Jesus’ mission in your context, even when it’s difficult or goes against the current trends or expectations.
